Eat Wisely Cyprus is an EU-funded awareness campaign under the IMCAP programme, dedicated to promoting the values, impact and added value of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in citizens’ everyday lives.
The project highlights how the CAP safeguards a safe, stable and high-quality food supply across Europe, while actively supporting sustainable and organic farming practices that protect biodiversity, natural resources and rural communities. By encouraging environmentally responsible production methods, reduced pesticide use, soil and water protection, and climate-smart agriculture, CAP contributes directly to a more resilient and greener food system.
At the same time, Eat Wisely places strong emphasis on public health. By promoting access to nutritious, minimally processed, locally produced and certified quality products (PDO/PGI and organic), the project demonstrates how CAP policies help tackle major societal challenges such as obesity, diet-related diseases and food insecurity. Healthy soil leads to healthy crops and ultimately to healthier citizens.
Through interactive events, youth engagement activities, stakeholder collaboration and multimedia storytelling, Eat Wisely strengthens the connection between farming, healthy dietary choices, environmental responsibility and rural development. The campaign empowers consumers, especially young people, to make informed food choices, reduce food waste, and support sustainable local production.
By showcasing real-life examples from Cyprus and aligning with the EU Green Deal and Farm to Fork Strategy, Eat Wisely Cyprus demonstrates how the CAP is not only an agricultural policy, but a key pillar for building a more resilient, fair, climate-conscious and health-oriented Europe.
