My name is Stylianou Stella and I am Greek Cypriot citizen. I have studied , English Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University and then continued my studies on Jounralism. I have obtained  a Master’s degree in Business Administration which  has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of business strategy. I have moderated various summits concerning politics, economy, technology and media. I am Greek native speaker and English fluent speaker.  For the last 13 years I am working as journalist, holding positions as newscaster  and editor at well known newspapers in Greece and  Cyprus e.g TO VIMA, POLITIS. Whereas, the past four years   I am working as a newscaster at the biggest tv station in Greece ‘MEGATV’.

Alexis Vafeades

Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Republic of Cyprus

Alexis Vafeades studied architecture at the University of Southern California (USC). He had been practicing the profession of architect since 1988 and was one of the Directors of the family architecture practice Vafeades and Co. He is registered with the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK). He was a member of the Board of Directors of Demetra Holdings PLC and of the Cyprus Joint Construction Contracts Tribunal (CyJCCT). During his previous term as President of the CyJCCT, he contributed to the revision of the existing Structural Contracts enriching them with new texts that serve the new requirements of the construction industry. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Council for the Registration of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors and a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Architects Association. He is married to Evangelia and has two children, Maria and Costas.

Charalambos Prountzos

Mayor of Nicosia

Charalambos Prountzos was born in Nicosia in 1978 and hails   from the occupied villages of Gerolakkos and Akanthou. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) from the University of Bristol (2001) and is a qualified Barrister-at-Law from the Inns of Court School of Law, London. He also holds a Diploma in Professional Legal Skills from City University, London. Mr. Prountzos is a licensed lawyer and insolvency practitioner with extensive expertise in regulated markets, competition law, mergers and acquisitions, and energy infrastructure projects. In 2010, he founded the law firm Prountzos & Prountzos LLC, where he served as Managing Partner until his election as Mayor of Nicosia in July 2024. From 2019 to 2023, he led legal services for a Big Four professional services firm across Central and Eastern Europe, South-Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. His public service record includes his tenure as Chairman of the Council of the Open University of Cyprus and his service on the Board of Directors of CYENS Centre of Excellence, a leading research and innovation institution. He has also participated in the Cyprus reunification negotiations, contributing legal expertise to the process. Mr. Prountzos is married to journalist Gogo Alexandrinou, and they have two children.

Demetris Skourides

Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation, and Technology, Republic of Cyprus

Demetris Skourides is the Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation, and Technology of the Republic of Cyprus and Chairman of the National AI Taskforce. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from Arizona State University and an MBA from Henley Management College. Additionally, he has been trained in digital transformation, AI, data monetization, and sales through programs at Columbia, Stanford, MIT, and Harvard. With a career spanning Oracle and Amazon Web Services, he has held executive roles across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. At Oracle, where he worked since 2006, he played a key role in driving cloud and ISV solutions transformation. He later joined AWS as Industry Strategist for EMEA, focusing on financial services, retail, manufacturing, and energy. Demetris Skourides spearheaded the establishment of Cloud Partner Centres of Excellence in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, South Korea, Kenya, and South Africa, enabling innovation and new revenue streams. He also chairs the Board of Directors of the Research and Innovation Foundation (ex officio).

 

Stella Kyriakides

Co-Chair of the Advisory Board of the European School of Oncology & Former Commissioner for Health and Food Safety of the EU

Stella Kyriakides served as Commissioner of Health and Food Safety of the European Union form December 2019 to November 2024. From 2006 to 2019 she served as a member of the Cyprus House of Representatives. In 2017 she was elected the 30th President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the fourth women to hold this position in the history of the Assembly and the first Cypriot. She was Head of the Cyprus delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Chair of the Health and Social Affairs committee, General Rapporteur for the Rights of the Child and Vice President of the European Peoples party. During her term at the Cyprus Parliament, she served as President of the Human Rights committee and Vice President of the Health Committee. She has been a staunch advocate for patient rights, founding the first Breast cancer association in Cyprus, Europa Donna, of which she was President for fifteen years. She was elected President of the European Breast Cancer Coalition Europa Donna, was President of the Patients Advocacy committee of the European Cancer Association, Chair of the Cyprus National cancer plan Committee and served on numerous European scientific boards. She graduated in psychology from the University of Reading with a postgraduate degree from the University of Manchester. She worked in the Cyprus Mental Health services as a psychologist in the areas of Child and Adolescent mental health, Mrs. Kyriakides was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Science degree from the University of Reading for her total contribution in the area of health. Mrs. Kyriakides has recently been appointed as Co-Chair of the Advisory Board of the European School of Oncology and Senior lecturer in Cancer Policies.

Charis Evripidou

Act. Superintendent, Director of Traffic Police Department, Cyprus Police

Commencing my service with the Cyprus Police in 1991, my professional focus has centered on traffic accident investigation and road safety since 1994. I have held significant leadership positions, including Head of the Nicosia Traffic Police Branch and Deputy Director of the Traffic Department at Cyprus Police Headquarters from 2017 until my appointment as Director of the Department in March 2025. In my current role, I also hold responsibility for the oversight of the national speed camera system. My professional development is supported by graduation from esteemed institutions such as the National Security School of Greece, the FBI National Academy, and the Police Academy. Furthermore, I hold a Master of Science degree in Security and Crime Risk Management from the University of Leicester and a diploma in Traffic Accident Investigation from Northwestern University. My engagement in road safety extends to the European Union through active involvement in various working groups.

Marina Tziakouri

Prof. John Deanfield CBE

Professor of Cardiology, University College London

John Deanfield is Professor of Cardiology at University College London (UCL) and Consultant Cardiologist.  He was the Director of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR – 2011-2025) in the UK and has played a leading role in the use of national data to improve outcomes from heart disease. Based on his clinical and academic achievements, he has championed the idea of lifetime benefits of sustained management of cardiovascular (CV) risk factors and comorbidities, introducing the concept of ‘investing in your arteries’.  John’s career has focused on the lifetime management of heart disease, underpinned by his innovative science.  John is ranked among the top 2% of scientists globally and has published more than 561 research articles (Citations: >185K H index: 153).  His clinical and research activities have led to involvement in national policy development, particularly in the prevention space, aiming to reduce the population burden of many noncommunicable diseases such as heart disease, cognitive decline and dementia.  He has led landmark publications showing the benefit on a broad range of cardiovascular outcomes.

Argyro Efstathiou

Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Cyprus Trading Corporation FMCG Logistics and Distribution

Argyro Efstathiou holds a BA Hons in Economics with specialization in Accounting and Finance, from the University of Manchester (2002). She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus since 2005. Argyro started her career as an external auditor at KPMG Cyprus in 2002, where she continued working until January 2018. From September 2014 until January 2018 she held the position of Principal at KPMG Cyprus, with extensive external audit experience in a wide range of industries, with main specialisation in Consumer Products (manufacturing, retail and distribution) and in Real Estate. In January 2018, she joined Cyprus Trading Corporation Plc (CTC) as Head of Group Internal Audit and she had direct reporting to the Audit Committees of the three public companies of CTC Group. In April 2020, she accepted a new challenge within CTC Group as the Chief Financial Officer of Argosy Trading Company Ltd, Artview Company Ltd και Cassandra Trading Limited. On 1 July 2024, she was promoted to Chief Operations Officer of the FMCG Unit of CTC. As part of this new role, she is responsible for the Finance Function, Logistics Function, Human Resources, Digital Operations and Artview Company Ltd.

Iakovos Kargarotos

Vice Chairman, Papastratos, (Affiliate of Philip Morris International)

Iakovos is the Vice Chairman of Papastratos, (Affiliate of Philip Morris International), since January 2012. Having spent 10 years in FMCG, he started his career in the Commercial team of Papastratos as Regional Manager. During the next 10 years he assumed positions of increased responsibility. In 2010, he took the position of the Fiscal Affairs Manager, and then promoted to Director External Affairs and Vice Chairman. Iakovos studied Chemistry and then he did his master’s degree in Oenology and business administration at INSEAD. He speaks English and is married and father of three boys.

Stavros Malas

President, The Cyprus Institute

Prof. Stavros Malas holds a BSc and PhD in Genetics and has been trained at University College and Imperial College London. He has served as head of a research group at  the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics and Foundation Chair and Dean of the Veterinary School of the University of Nicosia. He has undertaken various advisory roles in policy development in the EU, like Special Advisor to Commissioner for Health, elected first President of the Innovative Medicines Initiative-States Representatives Group, member of the European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) and member of the Program Committee for Health. He served as Minister of Health of the Republic of Cyprus and, during the Cyprus Presidency of the European Union, as Chair of both the European Council of Ministers of Health and the Competitiveness Council for Research. He is currently the President of The Cyprus Institute.

Olympios Toumazou

Executive Chairman, RAI Consultants Ltd

Olympios Toumazou studied Economics, with graduate option in Accounting and Finance at the WLU University in Canada. He also holds an MBA with a specialisation in Marketing from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. He started his professional career with MEΜRB International where he specialised in conducting market research surveys in the Consumer and Industrial Sectors. In 1988 he was employed by the multinational company Procter & Gamble in Switzerland and later in the Middle East, where he served as Marketing Director for all the countries in the Arabian Peninsula. He is a founding shareholder of RAI Consultants Ltd, of which he has been President of the Board of Directors since the foundation of the Company in 1995.  He also served as a professor of Marketing and Strategy in the MBA program of Neapolis University in Paphos.  Olympios Toumazou is an active member of ESOMAR (European Society of Opinion and Market Research) and is a regular speaker at Marketing and Strategy conferences.

Joanna Constantinidou

Senior Officer, Department of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment

Joanna Constantinidou has been a Senior Officer in the Department of Environment since 2004. In this role, she has managed a wide range of environmental studies for plans, programmes, and projects; coordinated the transposition of European directives on environmental noise, environmental impact assessment, and coastal zone management; and ensured compliance with the EU’s environmental acquis. She has also served on numerous national, European, and international committees. Since November 2022, she is the head led the Waste and Circular Economy Project Implementation Unit and since February 2025 she is the head of the Circular Economy Unit. Prior to joining the public sector, she worked from 1999 to 2004 as an architect in the private sector. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, an MSc in Environmental Management from Imperial College London, and an MBA from the Cyprus International Institute of Management.

Miranda Georgiou

Kobold Sales & Marketing Manager, Eminentia Trading Ltd

Miranda Georgiou is the Sales and Marketing Manager for Kobold at Eminentia Trading Ltd, the official distributor of Vorwerk in Cyprus. Miranda has been working with Eminentia Trading Ltd since 2016 and is responsible for the direct promotion and sale of the Kobold wireless cleaning system with a team of 33 Kobold Advisors Cyprus wide. She has extensive experience in product promotion and sales. Previously, she worked in the banking sector for 18 years providing premium credit and banking services to high-net-worth individuals. She was the Chief Operations Officer and one of the founding members of Legion Run, an international event, a team-oriented 5km run with obstacles held in different countries around the globe. She is a Fulbright scholar and graduate of Michigan State University.

Julia Pavlou

Chief Personnel Officer, Bird Aviation

Julia Pavlou is the Chief Personnel Officer at Bird Aviation, with extensive experience in the Cyprus aviation industry since March 1998. She began her career at Eurocypria Airlines, where she held various roles from 1998 to 2010, including Operations Control Duty Officer, Crew Rostering Officer, and Deputy Operations Control Manager. From 2012 to 2020, she worked at IKAROS Aviation Training Centre as Assistant Training Manager, specializing in aircraft mechanics training. She then served as Crew Rostering Officer at Cyprus Airways (New) from 2020 to 2023 before joining Bird Aviation in 2023.

Marios Kapiris

Marios Kapiris is currently the General Manager of Kyndryl Cyprus and also the Alliances & Ecosystems Leader for Kyndryl Greece and Cyprus. His job responsibilities include the general management of Kyndryls ’s business operations in Cyprus, including sales, business development, project delivery and technical support. In addition Marios is responsible to build and maintain Kyndryl’s new partner ecosystem and global alliances for both Greece and Cyprus. In 2023, Marios has been awarded with the well-established and prestigious award in Cyprus of “Manager of the Year 2022” from InBusiness magazine! Marios currently is the President of the Cyprus Institute of Marketing (CIM) Council, represents Kyndryl Cyprus as a Board Member and President of the Digital Transformation Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus (AmCham), , and sits as a Board Member of the Cyprus Tech Association.
